Starting on Friday afternoon until Sunday 13 December from the top of the Tinbergen Building laserbeams will light the Timmerhuis for the occasion of the opening. It symbolizes the connection between the university and the city of Rotterdam.
The university is part of the laserproject, which connects several striking buildings of the Rotterdam skyline with the Timmerhuis.
The Timmerhuis building is the place where, after World War II, the reconstruction of the new Rotterdam city centre was planned and supervised. It symbolizes the dramatic metamorphosis of the city centre. Now, the innovative design of Rem Koolhaas’ OMA merges a new construction with the existing, historic building dating from 1950. The result reaffirms Rotterdam’s status as a major architectural city.
