Development, experiences, student learning and engagement, implementation | CLI Fellowship of Marike Polak
Marike Polak

The Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) gives lecturers from Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) the opportunity to apply for a fellowship. With this fellowship, they research educational innovation, or carry out an educational project.
On this page you can read more about the CLI Fellowship of Marike Polak (ESSB) which focuses on lecturer support for integrating academic skills in disciplinary courses.

This project focuses on improving the teaching of academic skills within a bachelor (psychology) curriculum. It seeks to address gaps in the explicit teaching of often implicitly assumed skills such as critical reading and responsible use of generative AI. They use a constructive alignment approach to integrate academic skills into disciplinary courses in addition to dedicated practicals. By using teachEUR to disseminate developed resources (instructional materials including worked examples of teaching activities), the project aims to support and engage teachers in integrating academic skills into the curriculum. Through mixed methods, the project aims to assess the impact on students' development of academic skills. Additionally, they explore what factors help or hinder successful implementation of the Academic Skills Kit.
