It is with great sadness that we have learned that Prof. Wicher Jan Slagter, better known as Wiek Slagter, passed away on 29 December 2015 at the age of 92. Mr Slagter was affiliated with three schools of Erasmus University Rotterdam for 28 years: in his capacity as a Professor of International Private Law and Corporate Law, with Erasmus School of Law; in his capacity as a Professor of Civil Law and Commercial Law, with Erasmus School of Economics, and in his capacity as a Professor of Private Law, with Rotterdam School of Management. His solidarity with the university made Wiek Slagter a unique scientist. Mr Slagter, who served as Dean of Erasmus School of Economics from 1979 to 1981, was a keen researcher and a highly motivating lecturer who taught and inspired many generations of students. He retired in 1989.

You are kindly invited to remember Mr Slagter at 12.30pm on 7 January 2016 at the Hoflaan Church, located at Hoflaan 1 in Rotterdam. An informal reception will be held at Erasmus University’s Cum Laude reception area below the auditorium on the Woudestein campus from 2.30 to 5pm. Mr Slagter will be buried privately with only close relatives present. Â
