Response to the attacks in Paris

The Erasmus University Rotterdam community has been shocked by the horrific events in Paris last Friday. Several students and staff members of our university were staying in Paris. As far as we know, no one was injured.

Our thoughts are with the casualties and all those who lost loved ones in the brutal events in France on Friday. We also think of others who are innocent victims of terrorism elsewhere in the world. Solidarity is important right now. We encourage our university community to actively participate in the debate to get people and opinions connected and to reduce tensions.

Today the flags on campus Woudestein, at Erasmus University College and at the International Institute of Social Studies (The Hague) will be half-mast. At 12:00 hours all European countries will obey a minute of silence to mourn the casualties. You’re kindly requested to join in.

At 18:00 hours, exchange students will organize a peaceful gathering at Erasmus Plaza (between the Food Plaza and Erasmus Pavillion). More information can be found on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/erasmusuniversity.
