In this page, we share four resources to help you foster and reflect on the impact and engagement of your academic work. These tools are designed to help academics, departments, and institutes connect their academic activities to broader societal outcomes.
What are impactful careers?
EUR is committed to becoming an impact-driven institution. This journey involves rethinking academic careers, recognising that impact is not a separate activity but an outcome of excellence across research, education, and engagement. It is important to start reflecting individually and collectively on how our activities and competences may lead to societal impact. This can support D-cycle conversations, grant acquisition, team development, and engagement with societal partners – fostering impactful careers in academia.
Our tools
The fostering impactful careers, impact activities catalogue, and impact competences catalogue come as a trilogy. You can use the content of the two catalogues where the fostering impactful careers tool guides you through a reflective process in understanding and fostering impactful careers. Thinking about my Impact and Engagement offers a brief printable worksheet with accompanying presentation slides, designed for academics to consider how their project or contributions relate to society.
