Erasmus Honours Programme - Class of 2017

"Studying International Business Administration, I have become well-versed in the theory of running the operations of a firm, however, it can unfortunately leave little time to always consider the bigger picture. The way we treat employees, our environment, and the very moral and socio-political justification for our current market system, among other things, are neatly tucked away.

Although we may never fully understand why conflicts happen, and whether they are due to economics, politics, or other factors. We may also never solve the problem of how to contribute, as a society, towards eradicating poverty, or even how to measure whether we do so effectively. However, this class of 20 interdisciplinary students, taught by some of the leading professors in their fields, provided a start.

In unleashing this “Pandora’s Box” of difficult questions, this programme not only taught us about the systematic implications of our actions, but also empowered us to lead change in ourselves, and our communities.  Overall, it was a uniquely challenging and rewarding experience, and was unlike anything I had participated in at the university. Therefore, if you are passionate about global issues and perspectives on how to solve them, I recommend joining this program. After all, a great man once said ‘we can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them'."
