Biography
Dr. Marjan Askari is an assistant professor at the Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management since 2017. She has a background in computer science and health informatics. Her research focusses on medical informatics, specifically on health services innovation and IT; e-health, on among other things clinical decision support systems, patient empowerment; self-management using IT; prognostic models and e-coaching.
Previously she has worked at Utrecht University in the health information science group, where she was the coordinator of the bachelor thesis, the master course ‘Medical informatics’, and the the bachelor courses ‘Life sciences and health informatics’ and ‘Information Security’. Prior to that she was a researcher at the University of Amsterdam / Academic Medical Center working on various projects for improving elderly care and patient safety at the ICU/emergency department and primary care using information technology.
