Biography

Dr. Tomris Cesuroglu is a physician and interdisciplinary researcher with more than 20 years of experience in health systems, policy and innovation. Across different fields of health and society, her work has explored how innovations emerge and develop, how different forms of knowledge and expertise can be brought together, and how research can contribute to policy, practice and systems transformation.

Her current research focuses on the science–policy–practice interface in pandemics and disasters. She leads a seven-country comparative study of scientific advisory arrangements during COVID-19 and works on integrated scientific advice, knowledge translation and interdisciplinary collaboration for pandemic and disaster preparedness.

Her research background spans health systems and policy, personalized medicine and public health genomics, global health, and the transformation of research, innovation and food systems. Her work draws on systems thinking and inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, combining insights from different disciplines and perspectives to understand complex challenges and support meaningful change.

Dr. Cesuroglu has authored and co-authored 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and three academic book chapters across a broad range of fields, including pandemic and disaster preparedness, health systems and policy, global health, public health genomics and personalized medicine, and innovation and systems transformation. Her work also includes policy reports and other research outputs for national and international organisations.
