Introduction
We hope this module can help EUR educators effectively integrate LLMs into their courses, irrespectively of their discipline. We would like to help you create assignments that are engaging, meaningful, promote critical thinking, creativity, and a deepening understanding of the subject matter. Particularly, the focus of this module is on helping you think about your own courses, learning objectives (LOs) and assignments. How to change LOs? What types of assignments are available? How to handle plagiarism checks? Should you adapt your rubrics?

Context and target group
As part of their offer for the professional development of teachers, the Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) developed three online learning modules for EUR teachers. These modules have been developed in collaboration with EUR lecturers, didactic and AI experts. You can complete the online learning modules at your own pace at your own time. They can also be used to complement or deepen the Microlab 'How to use AI as a teacher (for beginners)' but can also be followed separately.
Content, form and time investment
There are three different modules in this course:
- AI in weekly assignments | Discover the potential of language models for your teaching: this module provides valuable information and a creative space for course development. You will also learn how to improve your teaching methods with AI: learn about Large Language Models (LLMs) and experiment with innovative assignments.
- AI in the assessment cycle | In this module you will get practical tips and tools to design assessments that make valid statements, so that students are assessed fairly. Based on your own assessments, you will be given practical tools for each phase of the assessment cycle.
- GenAI and academic questions | This module focuses on the fundamental questions that everyone in academia should be asking about generative AI. Exactly two years after the launch of ChatGPT, Rolf Viervant (ESPhil) invites you to join the discussion and challenges you to be critical and reflective in this new e-learning course. For AI optimists, AI pessimists and everyone in between!
