From theory to practice
During your studies a graduate symposium (mid-June) and workshops (mid-April) on four specializations will be organised:
- Innovation in Education
- History, Theory, and Approaches in Public Philosophy
- Philosophy and Public Policy
- Transdisciplinarity and public issues
Teachers: Dr. Tim De Mey, Prof. Dr. Marli Huijer, Prof. Dr. Liesbeth Noordegraaf-Eelens, Dr. Constanze Binder
Students choose one out of the four specializations and use the mentor group (which meets at the end of each block) to work towards an outcome (policy report, public lecture, vlog, …) to be presented to all students at an onsite workshop in block 5 with participation of specialists from the field.
Philosophical Faculty Association ERA
ERA is the faculty association of Erasmus School of Philosophy. ERA’s ambition is to inspire students on an academic and a personal level. To achieve this, ERA organises interesting pub lectures, cultural activities and study trips. ERA welcomes all philosophy students. As a member of ERA, students will also receive our faculty magazine ‘Twijfel’, with philosophical articles and interviews of, with and by students and academic staff.
Visit the website of ERA for more information.
Erasmus Student Journal of Philosophy (ESJP)
The Erasmus Student Journal of Philosophy (ESJP) is a double-blind peer-reviewed student journal which gives students of Erasmus School of Philosophy the opportunity to publish their best philosophical papers. Published papers have been nominated by the teacher of the course for which they were written and subjected to double-blind peer review by at least one other teacher and two student editors who act as referees.
The ESJP aims to further enrich the philosophical environment in which Rotterdam’s philosophy students develop their thinking and bring their best work to the attention of a wider intellectual audience.
Visit the website of the ESJP for more information.
Are you interested in taking philosophy courses in Sydney, Oxford or Bologna? Erasmus School of Philosophy gives MA Philosophy students the possibility to go on exchange and spend a study period abroad. We participate in exchange programmes with partner universities within and outside of Europe.
Students are most welcome to join the monthly ESPhil PhD seminar and the monthly PhD seminar Philosophy of Economics, as well as the monthly Faculty Colloquia. They also have the option of receiving supervision in writing a PhD research proposal.
