Brief summary of the doctoral thesis:
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a global healthcare burden, despite significant advancements in guideline-directed medical therapy and device interventions. Remarkably, these advancements have prolonged the duration of disease, leading to ongoing treatment and complications arising from multimorbidity and polypharmacy. The prevalence of these factors is only expected to increase with a rapidly aging population. In this epidemiological context, personalized medicine emerges as a potential solution, offering a pathway to reshape the future of CVD management and mitigate its growing impact. The critical imperative is the precise identification of high-risk patients to enable timely and tailored interventions. To address this growing demand, there is a pressing need for tools capable of accurately assessing and consistently monitoring adverse CV events. This thesis explores the potential of harnessing 'big data', as well as serially measured biomarkers and other prognostic factors, with a particular focus on patients with heart failure and acute coronary syndrome.
