Below is a brief summary of the dissertation:
The bone marrow niche provides instructional signals to ensure the maintenance and function of haematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and orchestrates the development, maintenance and regeneration of bone marrow. HSC niches have already been the focus of numerous studies, but a better understanding of populations and molecular pathways that drive bone marrow (re)generation is still still required. Unravelling the key players involved in these processes
involved is particularly relevant in the context of therapy-induced bone marrow injury and may help discover treatments that can promote bone marrow repair can promote. In this thesis, we studied the microenvironment of the bone marrow during development and in the context of recovery after chemotherapeutic injury, to shed more light on populations and pathways that play a key role in the above processes.
