Policy Day 2018

On the 4th of September Erasmus University Council started the new academic year of 2018-2019 with the ‘Policy Day’. The ‘Policy Day’ is one of the most important events in the University Council agenda, since it is full with a number of traditions.

During the day Council members had an intensive training session centered on themes such as Teamwork, strategic decision-making, and other crucial workshops which are very important throughout the council year. This training was organized in a way so that all the council members including the old and new ones had an opportunity to get acquainted with each other, share mutual experiences and goals for the upcoming year. Apart from that, ‘Policy Day’ also marked the last Plenary meeting of the University Council 2017-2018. On the final Plenary session, old council members summarized their council year, shared their personal experiences and ideas on the previous, existing and upcoming challenges of the University Council. At the end of the plenary, old council members were symbolically replaced by the new council members of 2018-2019.  After the constituent meeting between previous and upcoming councils, new council members were given a designated time and space for brainstorming focal points for the year of 2018-2019. Several council representatives took a responsibility in presenting upcoming focal points their working groups sought to be important. Eventually, all the new council members agreed on the following vision of the University Council 2018-2019: '‘A safe and inclusive University for a sustainable future - Through participating students and employees’.

The ‘Policy day’ was finalized by the dinner and drinks with the old and new council members and the Executive Board. Yet the latter was another amazing opportunity for the new council members to engage in interesting conversations with Executive Board and discuss the future goals and challenges throughout Erasmus University Rotterdam.
