Entry check pilot at the University Library

From 1 to 5 June, a temporary entry check will be in place at the University Library. This is a pilot during the exam weeks to ensure there are sufficient study spaces for EUR students and to limit overcrowding and disruption. During this period, the University Library will only be accessible to EUR students, employees and members of the University Library and Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet (RLK).

Why this pilot?

The annual survey revealed that a large number of students experience disruption in the library and find it difficult to find a study space. Various options were considered, and ultimately the Library opted for an entry check pilot during exam weeks. The aim is to improve the study experience for students.

How does the entry check work?

The following measures will apply from Monday 1 to Friday 5 June during the day:

  • Only the main entrance of the University Library (ground floor) will be open for access.
  • Visitors will be asked to show a (digital) student card or library card.
  • The revolving door to the Theil Building is temporarily closed.
  • The corridor will remain accessible for use of the coffee machines and wellbeing activities.
  • If you leave the library, for example to take a break or get some fresh air, it is important that you take your phone with the OSIRIS app or your student card/library card with you, as you will need to be able to show it again upon re-entry.

Who are affected by these changes?

  • EUR students: show your (digital) student card to gain access to the University Library.
  • University Library and RLK members: bring your library card for access.
  • EUR employees: show your employee card to gain access.
  • Other visitors will not have access to the University Library during this period.
