The quiet atmosphere in the Library ensures an inspiring and pleasant study environment. And no need to leave the Library whenever you want a short break from studying! We offer you several facilities to recharge, so you'll be ready to go.
Who is this for?
The facilities are open to everyone: students looking to take a break, staff members wanting to recharge between meetings and classes, and visitors who’d like a relaxing moment to read or unwind.
What we offer:
Spaces to relax
- Several areas with lounge chairs to catch up and drink coffee.
- Mindfulnest; a white cabin, where you can take a moment for yourself by having a short meditation in a relaxed atmosphere.
Quick recharge
- Two massage chairs for a nice free massage to loosen your stiff muscles.
- Coffee machines around the corner. Feel free to take your drink into the library or enjoy the view on the sky bridge. Make sure to bring your own (reusable) cup, since the EUR does not provide disposable cups.
Activities and workshops
- The UL's Literary & Cultural programme, where you can join book clubs and workshops as well as attend readings with writers.
- Visit the ongoing exhibition of the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet in the centre of the library on the most diverse subjects.
- The workshop Motto books & bite-sized reads: using books to manage stress: daily life at the university can be stressful. Tight deadlines, meetings, complex projects, and competing priorities can leave you feeling overwhelmed. This hands-on workshop shows how reading can help manage stress.
Collections and materials
- Grab a book from the table with new acquisitions or from the shelf at the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet and find a quiet place to read for a while. Choose fiction or a book about f.i. history, art or philosophy. As an EUR student or employee you can also borrow a book and take it with you.
- Access to Libby, the app with a growing collection of e-books and audio books. Download the app, search for Erasmus University Rotterdam, log in with your ERNA credentials and start reading or listening!
- The Wellbeing collection; a changing collection of books about well-being in all of its facets.
- The Wellbeing LibGuide: discover our comprehensive guide that involves our wellbeing collections, tools, and activities designed to help you feel motivated, supported, and inspired throughout your academic journey.
Practical
- Bringing your own food and drinks to the library is permitted, so enjoy your favorite snacks while studying. Of course, throw your waste in the correct waste bin. These are located in various places in the library.
- To promote and maintain a pleasant atmosphere, the University Library has drawn up house rules. Be sure to check them out!
