The Unexpected Encounter: ‘Library of People’ looking for human books

Do you want to ‘be’ a book?

For this year’s Professional Services-day the Diversity & Inclusion office, Human Resources and the Library are offering a ‘Library of People’. Do you want to ‘be’ a book in this special collection?

EUR will hold its second Professional Services-day, a day annually organized for and by professional services employees, on the 30th of June. This year the theme will be The Unexpected Encounter and one of the organized activities will be a ‘Library of People’.

This activity is based on the initiative of the Human Library (www.humanlibrary.org) and is aimed at facilitating dialogue for opening up to differences through personal curiosity. People are invited to borrow not a book, but a person with a unique story! Each human book can give new insights in one’s own experience and thoughts on believes, lifestyles, family situation, social status, origin, etc. The book and the borrower have an open dialogue for roughly half-an-hour, where any curiosity-driven questions are welcome.

Would you like to share your experiences, are you open (and robust) to the curiosity of others? Join our initiative! Please fill out the form via the link below. Contact Frea Haandrikman from the EUR Library for any question on this initiative.

Deadline for registering for our special collection: 13 June. You can register via this page.

Looking forward to your story!

Frea Haandrikman (Library), Katarina Putnik (D&I/HR), Gwen de Bruin (D&I)
