On Tuesday 17 November the Dutch government gave a press conference with new updates on the corona pandemic and the restrictions that are needed to control the outbreak. A few more strict measures are cancelled, but education is not affected by this. Through this message we inform all employees and students about the changes.

In short places like the zoo, museums and theatres reopen, but indoors a maximum of 30 people still applies. This means the theatre room Erasmus Pavilion is in use again. Also, outdoors you are allowed to come together with four people. At Erasmus Sport several group classes can be followed and the fitness center remains open according to the corona rules. Trend is positive, but still a long way to go
During the press conference of last Tuesday, the prime minister Mark Rutte shared that things are moving in the right direction as the amount of infections has dropped the past month. With over 4.000 infections a day, he stressed that we still have a long way to go and we will have severe restrictions at least till mid-January. “There is light at the end of the tunnel”, he concluded. “But we all need to bite the bullet for a little more”
Our behavior contributes
The good news is that the healthcare system can cope better with the increased pressure as less people get hospitalized due to corona. The prime minister pressed that it’s not the corona measures that made this possible, but that the behavior of all of us caused the situation to improve. This demands sacrifices of everyone, especially regarding your social life. The student life is likely very to be different from what you imagined. Working from home and online education can also be very demanding for our employees. The past weeks show that our behavior does have an effect. Until a vaccine is available to all, the only way the stay healthy and to overcome this crisis is follow the corona measures.
