The Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) gives lecturers from Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) the opportunity to apply for a fellowship. With this fellowship, they research educational innovation, or carry out an educational project.

For our first-year students, difficulties adjusting to their new lives may not only influence their academic success, but it can also lead to mental health concerns such as depression (Kazmi, 2020). According to our EUR well-being report, the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences is one of the top three faculties with students who suffer most from homesickness, stress and mental health concerns. Peer mentoring programs are a great way to tackle such issues (Kachaturoff et al., 2020). However, these programs not only benefit mentees but also their mentors, offering them the chance to develop their soft skills such as communication and leadership. Therefore, the main aim of this CLI fellowship is to evaluate and improve the CONNECT program that has recently been introduced at ESSB.
