The ambition of Erasmus University Rotterdam is to use research to contribute to faster restoration of climate, ecosystems and a more equitable society. Focusing on our unique profile within the social sciences, medicine and the humanities, we co-create research by collaborating nationally and internationally as equal partners with other scientific domains and societal stakeholders. Through open and responsible science, we foster transparency and collaboration, reinforcing our role in the transition towards a sustainable, just and healthy society and planet within the regional and global innovation ecosystem.
Erasmus Initiatives
The Erasmus Initiatives are four ambitious programmes that work on the connection and interaction between science and society, between theory and practice, and that aim to increase the social and economic impact of their work. The different initiatives focus on: sustainable prosperity, better health through smarter choices, the quality of city life and augmented humanity and society with artificial intelligence.
JustWind4All
The DRIFT-led European research project JustWind4All started, supporting the acceleration of on- and offshore wind energy, including emerging wind technologies like airborne and floating, through just and effective governance. This includes setting up 5 regional wind labs across Europe: regional testing grounds that use innovative approaches to tackle the main challenges of just and sustainable wind energy development.
