Do you want a peercoach?

Read more on how a peercoach can help you
Studying in a busy library

Team SMF works with a team of SMF ambassadors. These ambassadors are students with a functional impairment who help out during events (such as the Bachelor Open Day), take part in policy panels but also work as peercoaches.

On this page you can find more information on how to request a peercoach and what the procedure looks like.

As a peercoach you help other students with a functional impairment with study related (such as study methods, planning etc.) and non-study related issues (like finding your way on campus, having someone to talk to).
Would you like to have a peercoach? Find more information here.

Or would you like to become SMF ambassador and peer coach? We would be very happy to hear from you! Please send us an email (smf@eur.nl) with your experiences regarding studying with a functional impairment and why you are interested in becoming our ambassador.

If you are a student with a functional impairment and you feel that you could use some guidance or tips from a fellow-student who also has a functional impairment, you can request a peercoach.
Here is how it works!

  • Get in touch and send an email to smf@eur.nl.
Please introduce yourself (name, age, study programme and year of study) and explain what kind of functional impairment you have and why you think you would benefit from a peercoach. If you already have an idea of the help you need, please feel free to elaborate on this in your e-mail.

  • Within a few days, a Team SMF employee will contact you to set up an introductory meeting
In this meeting we want to get to know you and therefore we will ask you a few questions. The aim of the meeting is to get an idea of the help you need, when a peercoach trajectory would be successful for you and also who would be a good peercoach for you.

  • After the meeting we will contact the peercoaches that we think are a good match for you.
We will ask them if they are interested and available to become your peercoach.
Please know that we will not yet share any personal information with them at this point.

  • Once we found a peercoach, Team SMF will schedule a meeting where you and the peercoach can get to know each other
A member of Team SMF will be present during this meeting to ask questions and to make sure everything is discussed.
If this meeting goes well, the peercoaching trajectory can start! Together with your peercoach you can decide the frequency, the medium, the location etc. That is all up to you.

  • After 8 to 10 weeks Team SMF will set up an evaluation
During this appointment, we will discuss how the coaching is going, if anything needs to change and if the coaching can continue or not.

Does this sound like something that could help you?
