Four Arts, Culture and Society master students from the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC) were invited to select works from the Art Collection of the Erasmus University for an exhibition in the Erasmus Gallery. With the concept of the exhibition 'the choice of ..... FINDING THE MASTERS' these promising young professionals highlight questions concerning what one would consider to be a masterpiece.

Out of all artists in the world, only a small section stands out in popularity. Is it the quality of the work that establishes a name, or is it the reputation of the artist? If you don't know the name of the artist or the painting, can you still recognize its brilliance?

What do you consider to be a masterpiece?

Visitors to the exhibition are invited to take four colored tabs and stick them near the paintings that they think are made by the masters Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol. After the duration of the exhibition, the walls will be filled with the colored tabs that will evaluate the questions at hand.

This exhibition is curated by: Xiaoqian Chen, Samiha Awad, Nita Qahili en Vera Menezes on view until mid-February 2019.
