What does this study entail?

The transition to a research university such as Erasmus University Rotterdam can be quite a significant shift. You will have fewer contact hours, more reading materials, and you are expected to work more independently, including conducting your own research.

The pre-master helps you develop the skills and competences you need to pursue a master's degree. The programme is designed to enhance both your academic skills (arguing, using sources and academic writing) and research skills (setting up a research project, conducting analysis and reporting your findings. You will also familiarise yourself with the most essential historical knowledge, models, and theories.

When you apply for the pre-master, you already have to choose a direction in which you will specialise during your master's: Applied History or Global History and International Relations.

Is this the right programme for you?
