Depending on your nationality you might have to take a tuberculosis test upon your arrival in the Netherlands, in order to obtain a residence permit. People from Albania, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Comoros, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Hungary, Iceland, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jemen, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niue, Norway, Oman, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Samoa, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay, Venezuela are exempt from this requirement.
The tuberculosis test can only be done after your arrival in the Netherlands and only by the Municipal Health Service (GGD). The tuberculosis test is free of charge. Via (010) 433 9440 you can make an appointment with GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond.
When you go to the GGD for a tuberculosis test, it is important that you do the following:
- Take the Tuberculosis Test Reference Form you received from your HR department. If you didn’t receive the form, please contact your HR department.
- Take your passport
- Fill in your address and personal information on the Tuberculosis Test Reference Form

After taking the test you will receive the completed Tuberculosis Test Reference form from the GGD staff. The completed form must be sent to the IND in Almelo (please use the address on the form) as soon as possible.
