2017 – Strategic Agenda Knowledge Economy
Research and advisory project by Frank van Oort and Jeroen van Haaren on the continued development of the Agenda Knowledge Economy for the City of The Hague. Jeroens contribution in this project is a bottom-up analysis of economic activity in the city of The Hague using data on industry location and dynamics. The analysis includes start-ups, existing businesses, growth, survival and bankruptcies.
2017 – Circular Economy: research on employment in circular industries in the Netherlands
Research project commissioned by EHERO and Circle Economy on the scale, composition and spatial distribution of circular employment in the Netherlands. Jeroen worked on the spatial analysis of location patterns using GIS-maps and gravity models of circular employment. His efforts are part of broader contribution made to this project by Martijn Burger, Frank van Oort, Spyridon Stavropoulos and Jeroen van Haaren.
2017 – Analysis of the Food cluster Rotterdam: research on the composition and location behavior of the food sector in the Rotterdam Region
Research project commissioned by City of Rotterdam in cooperation with the Rotterdam School of Management. This research is focused on the scale, composition and spatial distribution of companies active in the food sector. Jeroen took the lead in this project by mapping the spatial distribution of the food supply chain using GIS. The analysis included an overview of industry dynamics, including employment growth and decline, as well as start-ups and business closures.
2017 - Economic Outlook Rotterdam: Essay ‘Next Economy, Next City’
Essay written by Frank van Oort and Jeroen van Haaren as part of the Economic Outlook for the City of Rotterdam (Economische Verkenningen Rotterdam 2017). In this essay a spatial analysis is used to illustrate company location of knowledge intensive business services and manufacturing in Rotterdam. Special attention is paid to location choice, employment, colocation, start-ups, closures and small businesses. In addition, amenities for the Next Economy are mapped, as well as available homes for the higher educated on the rental and owner-occupied market.
2016 – Branding Brabant: Strategic advice on the brand ‘Brabant’
Strategic advice for the province of Noord-Brabant on the continued development of the brand ‘Brabant’ and related branding activities. Erik Braun and Jeroen van Haaren developed scenarios for continued development of the branding strategy of Brabant based on approximately 40 interviews with key stakeholders.
2016 – Review of Valuation models: Colliers International Consultants (Update 2016)
Update of the review done in 2015 of the valuation models for residential and commercial real estate used by Colliers International Consultants. In this project the research team consulted on the mathematical consistency and market conformity of these valuation models.
2015 – House prices in Rotterdam – Project on sustainable value optimization of home prices
Research into the value drivers of environmental factors in neighborhoods in Rotterdam. In this project multilevel hedonic pricing models are used to estimate the value drivers of home prices in Rotterdam. The results are used to evaluate policy to maximize the value of homes in Rotterdam.
