Vision

Sunny day on campus Woudestein.

The quality assurance vision of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) articulates the values and principles that guide our quality assurance practices. The vision rests on five pillars.

Our quality assurance vision: five pillars

  • Rooted in Erasmian Values

Critical reflection and dialogue form the foundation of our quality assurance. We value transparency, openness to different perspectives, and broad stakeholder engagement. As an entrepreneurial university, we provide room for experimentation and innovation in our quality assurance practice.

  • Working towards a vision

Our shared educational vision defines our understanding of educational quality and therefore guides our development efforts. Our quality culture enables us to work towards our shared goals. We relate our institutional objectives to the open standards of the accreditation framework in a transparent way.

  • One connected EUR

We value the strength of differences between faculties while simultaneously focusing on collective action and mutual learning. The connecting, shared leadership of deans and vice-deans and the Community for Learning and Innovation play a crucial role in this, while we provide room for ownership over implementation and delivery at the programme level.

  • Informed dialogue

Open and transparent conversations between all stakeholders are central to our approach. We ensure systematic organization of feedback loops and stakeholder engagement. Multi-stakeholder reflection on quality objectives helps us look at educational quality from different perspectives.

  • Leadership and mastery

We encourage conscious and competent quality assurance practices throughout the entire organization by investing in leadership and mastery in quality assurance at all levels. In doing so, we focus on developing role awareness, an appreciative, development-oriented attitude, and connecting competencies.

Our flat organisational structure makes a huge difference. Those short lines of communication are game-changing.

Link with our educational vision

Both our quality assurance vision and our educational vision are rooted in Erasmian values. Whereas the educational vision defines our understanding of educational quality, the quality assurance vision [ook link invoegen] describes how we systematically achieve this through continuous reflection and improvement.
