  • If you are a non-EU/EEA  international student who will be studying in the Netherlands for more than 90 days (and you do not have the nationality of a country listed under Option 1 from this page for an entry visa).
  • If you need both the entry visa (mvv) + Dutch student residence permit, the application will happen for both at the same time.
  • MVV is a provisional residence permit, that allows you to enter the Netherlands and is required for your Dutch residence permit to be issued.
  • A tourist visa is not the same as an entry visa (MVV).

  • It is a sticker in your passport, issued by the Dutch embassy or consulate;
  • It is valid for 90 days, allowing you to enter the Netherlands and pick up your residence permit;
  • You cannot extend the entry visa (mvv) period of 90 days;
  • You have to pick up the entry visa (mvv) at the Dutch embassy in your area before coming to the Netherlands.
  • Without the entry visa (mvv) you will not receive a Dutch student residence permit once you are in the Netherlands.

  • It is an official Dutch government document that allows you to (temporarily) reside in the Netherlands legally during your studies;
  • It is always issued for a specific purpose of stay, in your case: study;
  • As long as your Dutch residence permit is valid you are free to travel from, and return to, the Netherlands; and make short trips to other Schengen countries.

  • Your immigration process is handled by Team Immigration (EUR) and your admission process by your faculty. This means that we help students with a conditional (e.g. pending graduation) and unconditional offer after we are informed by your faculty. Having an immigration case does not automatically mean that your conditional offer is now unconditional, always refer to the admission team of your faculty for questions regarding admission. Team immigration has no knowledge about your admission process and/or deadlines.
  • Your documents cannot be older than 3 months.
  • Submitting your immigration documents on time (before the deadline) is part of your enrollment request, failing to submit your documents and pay your invoice on time results in an incomplete enrollment!
  • Before we start the immigration application, you must transfer the following fees:
    • Your studies (the tuition fee differs per study programme);
    • The immigration fee;
    • The living fee deposit (refundable), which is €1.235 for every month of your stay in the Netherlands.
  • You provide translations by a certified translator (e.g. notary) for all documents that are not in Dutch, English, French or German;
  • You agree to tuberculosis testing if required, and if needed treatment, upon arrival in the Netherlands;
  • You do not have a criminal record. Click here to sign the Antecedents certificate.
  • You have a valid passport.

  • In order to apply for a residence permit and during the validity of your study residence permit you must comply with the rules, regulations, and conditions. Click here for regulations procedure of the recognized sponsor (EUR) and here for the rules and conditions for your study residence permit.

  • EUR is your official sponsor and will arrange the application for your entry visa (mvv) and Dutch student residence permit;
  • You must provide us with all the required information and documentation and pay the immigration invoice on time. Submitting your immigration documents on time (before the deadline) is part of your enrollment request, failing to submit your documents and pay your invoice on time results in an incomplete enrollment!.

Please note: we cannot predict how long the procedure will take. We therefore strongly advise against booking tickets to the Netherlands before your application has been approved and you have an appointment for collecting your entry visa (mvv). Some Dutch embassies and consulates have closed, meaning that you may have to travel out of your home country to collect your entry visa (mvv). Only Dutch embassies and consulates that have a front office (FO) are authorised to issue entry visa (mvv).
