As a connected and engaged university, Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) aims to make a positive contribution to society. The Societal Advisory Council (in dutch: Maatschappelijke Raad van Advies or MRA) advises EUR on the university's role in society.

The Societal Advisory Council was established to support EUR in achieving the ambitions set out in Strategy 2030. As an engaged university, EUR aims to help resolve complex social issues, in close collaboration with various partners in society.
Role of the Societal Advisory Council
The Societal Advisory Council provides independent advice and acts as the eyes and ears of the EUR beyond the university walls. The advisory board can help the EUR respond more quickly to new developments in society. The members of the advisory council also keep the university focused by consistently asking challenging questions.
Composition of the Societal Advisory Council
The advisory council is composed of representatives from the public, private and civil society sectors. They are appointed for a period of three years, with the possibility of renewal for a further term. The members of the council are:
