The Erasmus Data Service Center (EDSC) provides access to and support for the use of financial databases. The EDSC is part of the library and located in the Polak building.
Most financial databases can be accessed on campus and from home. In addition, the EDSC also offers access to several standalone databases in the Polak building: Bloomberg, Eikon & Datastream, SDC Platinum. Eikon/Datastream can also be used from home by appointment. Morningstar can only be used from home by appointment.
The EDSC also has manuals in the use of the financial databases. For example, there are manuals in the field of annual report data, ratings, forecasts, and event studies.
Every month, the EDSC organizes several workshops where data collection for common topics is explained, such as mergers & acquisitions, annual report data and stock prices. Lecturers and students can request a tailor-made workshop on a more specific topic.
Lecturers can also give a Bloomberg or Eikon workshop to the students in the Bloomberg Class. It has a terminal for the lecturer and 10 PCs for EUR students.
During the individual support, a member of the EDSC offers students, lecturers and researchers help and guidance when consulting financial and social science databases.
