Annual Report 2025: fit for the future

From Open Science and AI to new ways of learning and collaborating, the Erasmus University Rotterdam University Library took important steps towards the future in 2025. The new annual report, Fit for the Future, shows how the Library further developed its services and worked together with the EUR community to create an open, innovative and future-proof academic environment.

The year began with a new five-year strategy, closely aligned with the EUR Vision & Strategy 2030. Learning and collaboration, Open Science and societal engagement are at the heart of this strategy. At the same time, a new organizational structure was implemented to work more efficiently and further improve services for students and researchers.

Open Science once again delivered impressive results. In 2025, 99.6% of the scientific publications by EUR and Erasmus MC were published Open Access. In addition, the Library expanded its support for open publishing, while Open Educational Resources gained a more prominent place on the strategic agenda.

Digital innovation was also high on the agenda. The Erasmian Language Model evolved into SHARE, a series of AI models for the social sciences and humanities. The Library also developed training programmes on digital information literacy and the responsible use of Generative AI.
