In the showcases of the University Library (UL), the activities and collections of the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet (RLK) and the UL are brought together. Additionally, attention is given to current themes and the broader role of libraries worldwide.
With this exhibition, we warmly welcome all new students and visitors to the UL, the RLK, and thereby to Erasmus University Rotterdam. The Library: the Heart of Erasmus University offers a multifaceted overview of the library as a source of knowledge, creativity, and connection.
Each showcase highlights a specific theme, such as the history of the UB, the lectures and events organized by the RLK, student well-being, and book clubs for students under the title Reading Without Borders. In addition, you’ll be introduced to our special collections and sub-collections, including humor and poetry.
We also reflect on the challenges libraries face due to the current political climate and an evolving digital world. Special attention is given to Banned Books Week and various fiction and non-fiction titles in which libraries play a central role.
Come visit and be inspired by the library! The exhibition is now on display and will run until January 2027.
