On 21 November 2018, the renowned Law professor Christine Parker (University of Melbourne) will visit Erasmus University Rotterdam as a guest of the BACT and DPAS programmes. She will give a guest lecture as part of the International Lecture Series of Public Administration and Sociology. The title of her guest lecture is: ‘Labelling for Sustainable, Healthy, Fair Food Systems? A Critical Evaluation of the Democratic Governance Capacity of Political Consumerism.’

That same day, Prof. Parker will also participate in a small-scale masterclass dedicated to PhD students, where a limited number of PhD candidates (max. 5) will have the opportunity to discuss their ongoing research projects and ideas with Professor Parker in an informal setting.

The masterclass targets PhD candidates who are preferably in a relatively early stage of their career (1st / 2nd year or beginning of 3rd year). The idea is to offer the opportunity to discuss a well-structured idea or a research project in its early stage with Professor Parker and to gather comments and suggestions for possible developments.

Candidates interested in taking part in the masterclass should contact Peter Mascini (pmascini@gmail.com) and submit the following documents:

  • Personal and academic info (including PhD programme, year, affiliations)
  • CV
  • A brief (3-4 pages) sketch of the research project\idea that the candidate wants to discuss.

The deadline to submit this documentation is 31 October 2018.

PhD students who have been selected by Peter Mascini to participate in the masterclass workshop will be informed before 7 November.
