R (Rianne) Warsen

Biography

Rianne Warsen is Assistant Professor Public Management at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB) at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

In her research, she focuses on collaboration and contracting in the public sector. Interested in how organizations work together and the implications thereof for public organizations and governments, she conducts research on amongst others the governance of public-private partnerships, the responsiveness of intermunicipal collaboration, and the interplay between formal and relational aspects in public contracting. 

She publishes regularly in top public administration journals including public management review, journal of public administration research and theory, and public administration review. She is co-author of the second edition of the book Governance Networks in the Public Sector, together with prof.dr. Klijn, prof.dr. Koppenjan, and dr. Spekkink. 

Dr. Warsen is also coordinator of Govlab010, a collaboration between the Erasmus University and the municipality of Rotterdam to contribute with impactful research on the functioning of the municipal organization. She teaches public administration courses in the Public Administration and Sociology Bachelor and Master tracks, supervises theses and coordinates the Dutch-languaged master programme Public Management.
