On June 3, we will host the 2nd edition of VCC Networking event with diversity and inclusion civil actors in Rotterdam! On this day, civil actors/organizations, and Erasmus University scholars/students working on diversity & inclusion will gather to share ideas for collaboration, network, and enjoy a Friday afternoon!
From Rotterdam Zuid to Rotterdam Noord, we will interact with civil organizations working on diversity and inclusion related issues. Together with civil organizations and scholars/students, the main goal is to discuss together meaningful ways of collaboration between the university and civil actors.
Programme
Confirmed organizations that will be joining us are:
- Gemaal op Zuid (community center, Afrikaanderwijk, Rotterdam South)
- RADAR (Anti-discrimination organization)
- RoSA (Rotterdam Social Alliance, dedicated to fighting poverty in the city)
- Space010 (youth department of Dona Daria)
The event consists of two parts: The tour itself (in which we will visit organizations and talk with their representatives, following our alternative city map) and a borrel. (If you are curious to see the map, please see our project page).
Who is this event for?
The event is mainly for EUR scholars/students engaged in topics related to diversity and inclusion, and for local civic organizations.

Vital Cities and Citizens
With the Erasmus Initiative Vital Cities and Citizens (VCC) Erasmus University Rotterdam wants to help improve the quality of life in cities. In vital cities, the population can achieve their life goals through education, useful work and participation in public life. The vital city is a platform for creativity and diversity, a safe meeting place for different social groups. The researchers involved focus on one of the four sub-themes:
- Inclusive Cities and Diversity
- Resilient Cities and People
- Smart Cities and Communities
- Sustainable and Just Cities
VCC is a collaboration between Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB), Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC) and International Institute of Social Studies (ISS).
