Nick Augusteijn

Profile

Born in the Netherlands, Nick Augusteijn studied language and culture studies, Utrecht University’s free bachelor’s program. He majored in international relations and subsequently pursued a master’s degree in the same field. Nick also earned a master’s degree in American Studies. As part of the latter program, he studied political science at the University of Florida. Throughout his time at Utrecht University, Nick taught courses as part of the Utrecht Summer school program (Dutch culture and society + European cultures and identities). After a brief career in automotive journalism, Nick in 2011 moved to Turkey to work as editor for an English-language newspaper. He soon changed jobs and joined an Istanbul-based business intelligence and strategic communications firm serving the oil and gas industry. In his capacity as market analyst he worked on a host of country reports, covering markets in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Americas. In 2015, Nick moved to Dubai to compile reports on Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He has since specialized in all matters related to oil and gas in those two markets, traveling extensively. His field of expertise also includes the geostrategic importance of Turkey in the regional gas market.
