Student Econometrics and Operations Research
I am currently doing International Econometrics and Operations Research. To be honest, Econometrics wasn’t my initial choice of study but I took it into consideration because it combines Economics and Mathematics: two subjects I excel in. I decided to go to an Open Day at Erasmus and I was very impressed with the course.
Throughout the first year of my bachelor, I wasn’t sure what we were doing and where this was leading to. However, slowly but surely, I noticed how this is used in real life situations and it becomes really motivating that the more you learn, the more ‘doors open’ to understand how the economy works and how it is used in everyday life.
Rotterdam is a beautiful and student oriented city. Close to Erasmus University there are international oriented places such as a student hotel where you can socialize with fellow students.
In addition, I joined the RAGNAR, a swimming/waterpolo club and PASSING SHOT, a tennis club. It is a lot of fun and quite affordable. Outside Erasmus, it is always nice to take a break, go to a restaurant or clubs at night.
What I would advise to fully enjoy this study and be able to get the maximum out of your potential is to stay consistent with your studies, keep up your ambition to motivate yourself and use the opportunities that Erasmus provides you such as Banking Tours and Investment Societies.
