The presentation will be based on a chapter from my forthcoming PhD dissertation based on an 8 month long ethnography in Accra, Ghana on the ways in which queer women are involved in NGO spaces regarding sexual rights and human rights, and how this intersects with their lived realities. In particular, this chapter focuses on how funding, legal positioning, and the category of lesbian affect queer women’s participation and inclusion in NGO work.
