Harsh Mander

Harsh will discuss the Karwan e Mohabbat - a Caravan of Love.

 

In September 2017, the Karwan traversed eight Indian states, meeting over fifty families that were targets of hate   violence, whether in the form of lynching and mob attacks, Dalit atrocities or violent communal targeting by the police.

Harsh Mander worked in the Indian Administrative Service for several years & then from 1999 to 2004 as Country Director, ActionAid India. He has been a member of India’s National   Advisory Council & appointed the Special Commissioner to the Supreme Court of India in the Right to Food case. He is currently Director of the Centre for Equity Studies, New Delhi.

Harsh is a scholar activist & has published more that 20 books. He works with survivors of mass violence & hunger, homeless persons & street children, & is associated with various causes, including issues of communal harmony, tribal, Dalit, disabled persons’ rights, & the Right to Information.
