Clement about working in the Netherlands

How did I find the job? 
Initially through a different job posting on SIN Online. The description was in English and at the International Office, so that encouraged me to apply.

My experiences
Working conditions in the Netherlands, in my experience, are very good – the environment feels welcoming and safe, something that I find very important when thinking of the best workplace. In terms of work culture, it is a very open place where I feel free to ask any questions I might have, even if they seem self-evident, and feel at my capacities just like everyone else. Back home there’s a stronger sense of hierarchy, guided by seniority and respect, consequently making it feel more intimidating to work as a student assistant than here. Salary-wise, EUR makes sure that you can enjoy work benefits such as a pension fund, increase in salary, as well as very clear guidelines and clarifications for any questions you may have (very transparent communication).

Job research recommendations 
For internationals, it can be quite difficult to find jobs in the Netherlands because of the language barrier – but I suggest this doesn’t discourage you! Always be on the lookout for job postings on SIN online, as well as staying in touch with any companies you do internships at within the Netherlands. Also, check out vacancies in other Dutch cities nearby, like Amsterdam or The Hague. They are welcoming to English-speaking candidates, as well. Always have your most up-to-date CV on hand!
