The speakers

  • Rod Mena Fluhmann

‘When Disaster meets Conflict: Disaster response in different conflict scenarios’

Based on the research project ‘When Disaster meets Conflict’, this presentation shows ways in which we can translate complex scenarios and make our research useful and used by society, and how development studies can become more relevant by including conflict and disaster in its scope.

    Rodrigo Mena
  • Zemzem Shigute Shuka

    'Transformative Social Protection in Ethiopia'

In my work I assess and analyze the transformative potential of and interactions between two large social protection programs in Ethiopia. I highlight key design features which are likely to enhance the ability of such schemes in reducing the vulnerability of rural households.

    Zemzem Shigute Shuka
  • Brenda Rodriguez Cortes

'Studying Women's Sexuality with Participatory Research'

In her presentation, Brenda Rodríguez will discuss the feminist participatory approach in her study of women's sexuality. Her research explores how women understand and experience their sexuality with a special focus on the colonial legacies that continue to shape sexual subjectivities until this day and the ways in which these are being resisted.
