Yongjian Li is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Media & Communication at Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication.
Under the supervision of Prof. Susanne Janssen and Dr. Amanda Alencar, Yongjian will study the mechanisms of digital governance of internal migration in the Chinese context to look into the interaction of these three factors: media, migration as well as governance.
Before coming to Erasmus University Rotterdam, Yongjian received his Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Wuhan University (WHU, China) in 2016, followed by a Research Master Degree in Public Administration (Educational Management and Policy) at Renmin University of China (RUC) in 2018. He also studied Social Pedagogy at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan, in 2017. He was a visiting research fellow in Interculturality and Criticality in Education at University of Helsinki (Finland) during 2017-2018. He worked as an intern at Tencent in 2017.
Yongjian’s research interests include media technologies, migration and media, intercultural communication and the digital diaspora. He is particularly interested in how social media mediate migrants' lives.
