On 26 October 2022, Peter Kavelaars, Professor of Economics of Taxation at Erasmus School of Economics, spoke in an interview with BNR Nieuwsradio about the desired compensation for the savings tax. The compensation would now only be for people who applied for it, but the Consumers' Association would have liked everyone to be entitled to it.

To be entitled to the savings tax compensation, it had to be applied for in advance. Now, however, the Consumers' Association wants everyone to receive this compensation. This wish will be difficult to fulfil, Kavelaars said. Only for those people who have already lodged objections or are about to do so, there is the possibility of compensation. However, that too will be a very long process: 'if you are too late, you are too late', the Professor adds.
