Erasmus Charity Run 2015: the bridge between education and sport

Erasmus Charity Run; de brug tussen onderwijs en sport

About 500 students, staff and alumni of Erasmus University Rotterdam will sweat blood working for a good cause on Sunday, April 12. Along with the study associations STAR, Cedo Nulli, In Duplo, Erasmus School of Economics and Rotterdam School of Management organize the Erasmus Charity Run during the Rotterdam Marathon. The goal is to raise money for the Erasmus Education Fund.

For the third time in a row the Erasmus Charity Run is organized. Last year, 300 participants took part and this year the aim is to have 500 runners to participate. The main distance is the 10-kilometer run (1/4 marathon) but some runners will participate in the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers.

By supporting various initiatives and directly providing scholarships the Erasmus Education Fund tries to enable talented youths from impoverished backgrounds to develop into the leaders of the next generation with the aid of further education.

Special fitness and training sessions

In preparation for the marathon, students can participate in special fitness and training sessions. As of January 13, there are weekly training sessions; every Tuesday at 5 pm at Erasmus Sport on campus Woudestein.

For participants who compete in the Erasmus Charity Run, a special classification will be made. The amount raised for the Erasmus Education Fund will be announced at the end of April.
