On Tuesday, 26 June 2018 a special transport delivered the artwork ‘die Sprechblase’. The stainless steel blob-like structure was placed in Park Noord at Woudestein campus. The ‘Sprechblase’ by the artist Kathrin Schlegel is core of the work ‘Der Stein des Weisen’.
Park visitors will be able to stand on a pedestal situated in front of it, following in Erasmus’ footsteps. Standing in front of the cloud, you ‘see’ your thoughts mirrored.
‘Following in Erasmus’ footsteps’ can be taken quite literally, because this contemporary artwork reinstates the original 17th century pedestal of Hendrick de Keyser’s statue of humanist Erasmus in the public sphere, as an ensemble accompanied by the monumental sculpture ‘Sprechblase’.
According to schedule, ‘Der Stein des Weisen’ will be unveiled in September.
