International Conference on Operations Research 2013 big success

Succesvolle editie van internationale conferentie Operations

From September 3 to 6, 2013, the International Conference on Operations Research (shortly: OR 2013) took place in the World Trade Center in Rotterdam. This conference, one of the largest in the area of Operations Research, welcomed 500 participants. The conference is part of the annual meetings organized by the German Operations Research Society (GOR), which are sometimes organized by a sister organization of the GOR in a neighboring country.

The theme of the conference was Impact on People, Business and Society. With Alexander Rinnooy Kan and Steve Sashihara, well-known for his book The Optimization Edge, the Conference had two renowned plenary speakers who perfectly addressed the theme. Moreover, two new awards were dedicated to the theme: the "Young participant with most academic impact" and the "Young participant with most practical impact" award.

The Management Team of Erasmus School of Economics would like to thank all (staff) members who participated in this highly successful conference, in particular Dr Dennis Huisman and Prof. Albert Wagelmans for their organizational efforts.
