Patrick Verwijmeren appointed as Professor of Corporate Finance

Patrick Verwijmeren benoemd tot hoogleraar Corporate Finance

As of 15 July 2014, Patrick Verwijmeren has been appointed as professor of Corporate Finance at Erasmus School of Economics. He will play a leading role in further developing and strengthening Erasmus School of Econimics' Finance Group at the department of Business Economics.

The research of Patrick Verwijmeren focuses on capital structure choices, developments in corporate governance, and the art market. An important part of his research deals with convertible securities.

About Patrick Verwijmeren

After a two year period as assistant professor at the University of Melbourne, Verwijmeren returned to the Netherlands to work as an associate professor at VU University Amsterdam in 2010. During his time in Amsterdam, he was also appointed as a part-time research professor at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Prof. Verwijmeren joined Erasmus University Rotterdam at the end of 2012.

His teaching experience stretches from undergraduate courses to postgraduate, honours and PhD courses, and he is a frequent speaker at international conferences. Prof. Verwijmeren has published in leading academic finance journals and also appears in popular media. The ESB ranks Verwijmeren as one of the top 3 finance and accounting researchers in the Netherlands.
