On 5 June 2018, the website Forbes.com published an interesting article about the highly successful Startup Competition ‘Get In The Ring’ (GITR).

GITR was founded by the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship in Rotterdam. Currently GITR is active in over 100 countries, has +200 licensed partners and has, according to GITR Global Director, Jochem Cuppen, worked with over 25,000 startups. From the 25,000 (and +40 organised regional challenges where GITR works with corporates and startups to solve huge problems like clean air in India), around 400 'heroes' have been supported further (help, guidance, introductions).

GITR co-founder and former Director of the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship, Hendrik Halbe, explains the concept: ‘Pitching in the ring forces founders to really think about their solution, and work hard on perfecting their pitch. Nobody wants to get in there and flop. Our sessions beforehand are dedicated to improving entrepreneurial skills and unlocking business opportunities. We decided early on to focus on a retreat style setting so you are able to connect to everyone who is attending in both a work and social setting building more valuable connections.
