While citizens’ willingness to fight for their country had declined globally for many decades, there has been a reversal of the trend in recent years. This research project, funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO), examined the factors underlying this change.

Who is willing to fight for their country? And why is the willingness to fight increasing again? We examined 40 years of survey data and suggest a new perspective.
