Sending certified copies

Sending the originals of certified copies of your documents per post is the next step towards completion of your application and enrolment as a bachelor student at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Please send us the documents as soon as you can and before the 1st of August.

Which documents?

You need to send us the following documents to complete your application:

  • A certified copy of your high school diploma(s) plus a certified translation of a copy of your high school diploma(s) if the original is not in English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian or German;
    • For students obtaining their A-levels: do not forget to include your GCSE certificates as well;
  • A certified copy of your final high school transcripts (grade list) plus a certified translation of your final high school transcripts if the original is not in English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian or German.
    Please note: do not send us your original diploma/transcripts, but only your certified copies.

A certified copy is a copy of a filed document, legal or other, which contains a seal that establishes that the document is genuine. Thus, it should have a stamp and signature stating that it is a true copy. A document may be certified by an officially authorised person (this can be the counselor at your school, a sworn translator, a notary or, in the UK, the post office).

Applicants with a Dutch vwo diploma or HBO-p diploma do not need to present hardcopies of their high school diploma. We can verify your previous education online.

Applicants who obtained (or will obtain) a diploma that can be verified online do not have to send certified copies either. For example, students with an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma do not need to present hardcopy documents. Their IB diploma can be verified digitally through this website. (Please choose: request for results to institutes of higher education - Netherlands - Erasmus University Rotterdam - Central Admissions Office.)

No diploma yet at the moment of application

We can only enroll you after receiving certified copies of your diploma, final transcript and certified translations if the originals are not in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian or Dutch. If you are expecting to graduate at the end of August, please make sure that a scan of your diploma/ letter from your high school stating that you have graduated and fulfilled all the requirements of your school reaches us BEFORE the last week of August. Please send us a scan by e-mail as soon as you receive them and post the originals.

If you choose to do it in the last week of August we can give you no guarantee that your enrolment will be complete – you will be competing with thousands of other late-senders for the attention of just a few employees manually processing your data in the system.
