Sociologist Kjell Noordzij in Trouw on VVD electoral success

Straat in Rotterdam in de zomer.

According to Kjell Noordzij, issues such as the benefits affair, the crisis on the housing market, the decentralisation of youth care and other social issues are things that many VVD voters regard as remote. A benefits affair (toeslagenaffaire) of this kind does not affect a large proportion of VVD voters.

Kjell Noordzij, sociologist at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, explains in Trouw why the Dutch voted massively for the VVD on 17 March, as they did during the previous elections. Read the whole article on Trouw (in Dutch).
