As of 1 October, philosopher and economist Liesbeth Noordegraaf-Eelens (1973) has been appointed lector Educational Innovation at Codarts Rotterdam, University of the Arts. Also from 1 October, Noordegraaf-Eelens will focus on educational innovation from Erasmus School of Philosophy.
Her appointment reflects the ambitions of the Rotterdam Arts & Sciences Lab (RASL) to speed up research into educational innovation. Prior to this, she was Head of Department Humanities associated with Erasmus University College.
Combining knowledge
Through her new roles, Noordegraaf-Eelens, co-founder of RASL on behalf of EUR, hopes to contribute to the further development of educational innovation, also by doing research in which scientific knowledge is combined with artistic and social knowledge ('transdisciplinary research'). 'Bringing art and science together produces new forms of knowledge production,' says Noordegraaf-Eelens. 'I look forward to exploring this field and taking the step to educational innovation.'
Rotterdam Arts & Sciences Lab
RASL (founded 2015) is a cooperative arrangement between Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), the Willem de Kooning Academy (Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences) and Codarts Rotterdam. The three institutes want to be a key player in the arts and science sector in Rotterdam, aimed at supporting versatile and talented students, developing innovative education structures and promoting multidisciplinary research.
Double Degree
One of the initiatives of RASL is the now successful Double Degree. Through this five-year programme, a student combines a bachelor programme at one institute with another study at one of the other institutions.
Liesbeth Noordegraaf-Eelens is an associate professor Humanities and Economics & Business. She is also a member of the Council for Public Health and Society and Comenius Leadership Fellow.
